*NOTE* Not a review but just a personal send-off to our most recent show.
I’ve had the privilege these last few months of watching a production go from the first readings to a full out show that moved some audiences to tears. And with a title like “The Motherfucker with the Hat”, that was something no one saw coming.
But I had the privilege to. I saw it from the beginning as our amazing actors and actresses fully embodied their roles and brought them to life before our eyes, and I loved every minute of it. Michael Aaron Santos, Kate Kuen, Martin Bradford, Armando Leduc, and Michelle Martin brought the heart and soul to this production, and I’m very happy and blessed to have been able to work with such wonderful individuals.
I also got to witness the growth of my good friend Josh Parham, first time director, take on one hell of a show, And by God, he did an excellent job, and I’ve never been prouder.
We also had an amazing crew, consisting of Kit Sternberger, one of the best SM’s New Orleans has ever seen; Mary Kate Olsen, our incredible lighting designer; Anthonyka Ferdinand, my sista and set designer; Cameron Bradford and Tommy Nyguen, who made sure we had a set to perform on; Veronica Russ, who absolutely hit it out of the park with our costumes, and the combined efforts of Johnny, Daniel, and Jordan helping backstage.
This was the first *NU* show to ever get reviews. And man, did they love it. For me, it felt like we have reached the next level, that we are finally making an impact on the NOLA theatre scene, and there was no way I could have done it without the amazing people I’ve mentioned above. This show will always live close to my heart, as will everyone involved in its life.
Congratulations to Josh on his first full production, as well as the cast and crew for the amazing response and killer performances they put on.
It was one hell of a show.
